  • Downtown Lubbock. Car or rideshare. Boutique-style hotels downtown, near the Depot District bars and Buddy Holly Hall.
  • Loop 289 corridor. Car, then Citibus Park & Ride. Chain hotels with easy parking; drive to a free fan lot and ride the shuttle in.

Broadway just east of campus has the game-day bars, including Bierhaus at 2009 Broadway and Chimy's at 2417 Broadway. Tech Terrace, across from campus, adds Good Line Beer Co. The Depot District is the late-night stop.

Football lots open at 7:30 AM on game days. S-1 and USA Auto Parking are $30 a game, card only on game day. Free fan parking is first come, first served. The official pregame party in the Engineering Key, free and open to the public, opens four hours before kickoff with live music, food, beer and wine, and college football on outdoor TVs. Visiting fans are welcome. Drinks bought there cannot go into the stadium. Tailgating is allowed in parking areas if it stays inside your space. Tents can be no larger than 10 x 10 feet and must fit inside one parking space. Keep drive lanes clear. RV lots open at 5:30 PM Friday and RVs can stay until 10 AM Sunday. S-1 RV spaces are $100 a game, $140 with 30-amp and $150 with 50-amp power. RaiderPark RV is $500, bought in advance. REVELxp sells full-service tailgates in Raider Alley with tents, tables, chairs and coolers. For other tailgate questions, call the Red Raider Club at 806-742-1196.

  • Bag policy: Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch about the size of a hand. Prohibited items must go back to your car or in the trash.
  • Cashless: Galaxy Stadium is cashless with no working ATMs. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are accepted. Beer and wine are sold at some stands.

Touring the stadium

Players walk to the stadium through cheering fans. For an 11 AM kickoff it began at 8:30 AM, two and a half hours before. The Masked Rider charges onto the field on a black horse before kickoff. Be in your seat early. Texas Tech's Spanish Renaissance campus, Memorial Circle and the Will Rogers statue at the main entrance make a good walk before the game.

Citibus return buses run any time after kickoff until one hour after the game. Wes Kittley Drive of Champions stays closed until about an hour after the game, so expect slow traffic around the stadium. Rideshare pick-up is at the same Flint Avenue or Akron Avenue spot you were dropped at.

Don't bring tortillas, food or a bag that is not clear. Prohibited items cannot be left at the gate. Don't leave mid-game to smoke: there is no re-entry without a new ticket.
