What we know about Wallace Wade Stadium

Where visiting fans stay

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
The stadium sits on Duke's West Campus, so there is no bar strip at the gates. Ninth Street, by East Campus, has Dain's Place, Hunky Dory and late-night Cosmic Cantina. Downtown Durham, about a mile from campus, has Bull McCabe's, Devine's and Tobacco Road Sports Cafe.

Getting in from the airport

From a specialist guide

Courtesy shuttle from the Yellow Zone, about 20 min. Duke Chapel, then a five-minute walk to the stadium. Park and walk, Pink Zone, about 6 min to Stadium gates. Park and walk, Purple Zone, about 8 min. Stadium gates (8 minutes from Chemistry, 12 to 14 from Circuit, 19 from Research Drive Garage). Park and walk, Green Zone, about 12 min to Stadium gates.

Tailgating

Checked at the source
Devils Gate in the heart of Duke's campus is the main pregame area, with tailgating, music, food and games before every home game. Rentable packages include 10x10 or 20x20 tents, tables, chairs, coolers with ice and a premium parking pass. The team walks through Devils Gate with the cheerleaders and marching band 2 hours and 10 minutes before kickoff. Fans line the route. Tailgating is allowed in surface lots only, never in garages or on their roofs. One permit equals one space: tents, tables and coolers must stay out of drive lanes, sidewalks and extra spaces. Propane and charcoal grills are fine if attended; fire pits and open-flame fires are banned. Douse charcoal with water and use the bins by the portable restrooms. Follow state alcohol law, and no outside alcohol in the stadium. RVs and vehicles over 9 feet wide or 18 feet long park only in the GC Lot for Saturday games, $70 per game, bought online. The lot opens 6 to 9 PM Friday and from 7 AM Saturday, and closes at noon Sunday. General public parking is free for regular-sized cars, so visiting fans can tailgate in the color-coded public lots. Jogging Trail and Chemistry open at 7 AM on Saturdays.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 x 12 x 6 inches, a one-gallon clear plastic bag, or a small clutch up to 8 x 5 x 1 inches. Medical and childcare bags are allowed after inspection.
  • Cashless: The stadium is cashless: cards and mobile pay only. A Duke Federal Credit Union ATM sits outside the stadium by the Team Store near the Bostock Gate.
  • Re-entry and tobacco: No re-entry except in an emergency. Duke is a tobacco-free campus, including vapes, on game days.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
Guided, hour-long tours of Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke's 9,314-seat basketball arena next door to the football stadium, for up to 20 guests. Book at least 48 hours ahead at goduke.com/Tours. Tours meet inside the Duke Basketball Museum. Self-guided visits to the Duke Basketball Museum and Rubenstein Pavilion, with trophies, memorabilia and touch-screen exhibits. Visitor parking at the Science Drive Garage and Science Drive Visitors Lot is $2 an hour. The Johnson Family Team Store on Tribull Plaza, outside the Bostock Gate, opens at 9 AM for noon kickoffs and 10 AM for other weekend games, until kickoff. For weeknight games it is open 10 AM to 4 PM.

After the final whistle

Checked at the source

One thing to avoid
