Tailgating

Checked at the source
Tailgating on the North Oval (Parrington Oval) is free and first come, first served in pre-marked 15 by 15 foot spaces; claim up to two. Bring your own tent, tables, chairs, food and power. Crimson or cream tent tops are encouraged. North Oval drop-off runs Friday 5:30 to 7 PM and again from 7 AM on game day. Enter at West Boyd Street and South University Boulevard, unload within 15 minutes and move your car: no one parks on the Oval loop. North Asp Avenue, Brooks Street and Lindsey Street also allow tailgating. Claim space from noon the day before (6 PM on Lindsey Street). Stakes go in from 5:30 PM the day before, or 7 AM game day on Lindsey Street, and must be 12 inches or shorter. Covered gas and charcoal grills are allowed 50 feet from buildings and never under tents; no open flames. Generators are allowed in tailgate areas. Adults 21 and over may drink in authorized tailgate areas on game days. No amplified music, no hay or straw, no overnight camping. RVs park at SooneRVillage, OU's RV lot, by reservation only. Trailers in paid lots need a second payment for the trailer and must fit a normal space. Reserved, ready-made tailgate packages sit on Boyd Lawn at Boyd Street and Asp Avenue. Everything comes down 45 minutes after the game.

Getting in

From a specialist guide
  • Bag policy: Clear bags only, and not every clear style is allowed: no backpacks. Check the approved types on soonersports.com before you go.
  • Re-entry: No re-entry once you leave the stadium.

After the final whistle

From a specialist guide
Lindsey Street, Jenkins Avenue, Brooks Street, Boyd Street, White Street, Buchanan Avenue and Asp Avenue are often closed or restricted, so traffic is heavy. The $5 round-trip shuttle to the Lloyd Noble Center runs until an hour after the game, and the free golf cart shuttle back to Downtown Norman runs until 2 hours after.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Don't bring a backpack, even a clear one, and don't plan to step out and come back: there is a clear bag policy with approved styles only, and re-entry is not allowed.
