What we know about Allianz Arena

Where visiting fans stay

Checked at the source
  • Altstadt. 30 min. U6 from Marienplatz to Fröttmaning (16 min), then walk the Esplanade. Beer halls, Viktualienmarkt and the 2024 NFL team pubs are all here, and the U6 runs straight to the stadium.
  • Schwabing. 25 min. U6 from Münchner Freiheit to Fröttmaning (11 min), then walk. Closest lively neighborhood on the U6, near the Englischer Garten; Champions sports bar at the Marriott is a short ride away.
  • Maxvorstadt. 30 min. U6 from Odeonsplatz to Fröttmaning (15 min), then walk. Quieter, museum district with an easy walk to the Old Town and a direct U6 ride.
  • Ludwigsvorstadt. 40 min. U1/U2 one stop to Sendlinger Tor, then U6 to Fröttmaning (23 min), then walk. Most hotel supply and the direct S-Bahn from the airport; board the U6 at Sendlinger Tor for a better shot at a seat.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
Fröttmaning is on Munich's northern edge by the A9 motorway, with no bar or restaurant district next to the stadium. On game day there are no events around the arena, so food and drink inside the gates is all you get. Stay in the center and ride the U6 out.

Getting in from the airport

Checked at the source
MUC Munich Airport. The S1 and S8 run to the city every 20 minutes, about 45 minutes to the main station; the S8 reaches Marienplatz in 36 minutes. Airport to Fröttmaning by S-Bahn plus U6 takes 50 to 65 minutes. Take the S8 (36 minutes to Marienplatz) or S1 (about 47 minutes); trains leave every 20 minutes. Buy the Airport-City-Day-Ticket (from €17.50, groups up to 5) for unlimited rides between the airport and the city that day. The Lufthansa Express Bus also runs every 20 minutes to the main station via Nordfriedhof, a U6 stop, in about 35 minutes.

Getting to the stadium

Checked at the source
U6 from Marienplatz, about 31 min. Fröttmaning, then the Esplanade to the south entrance. U6 from Münchner Freiheit, about 26 min to Fröttmaning, then the Esplanade. U-Bahn from the main station, about 38 min to Fröttmaning via Sendlinger Tor. Walk from Fröttmaning, about 15 min. South entrance; follow signs for Eingang Süd/Home Fans.

Before kickoff

Checked at the source
There are no pre-game events anywhere around the Allianz Arena on game day, and the NFL tells fans without tickets not to come to the stadium. The first ticket checks start on the Esplanade. In 2024 the party ran downtown the two days before the game: a team fan fest on Wittelsbacherplatz, team pubs at the Hofbräuhaus, Augustiner Stammhaus and Hard Rock Cafe, and an NFL merchandise pop-up at Stachus. Game-week team events post on touchdownmunich.com. Do your pregame in town: Hofbräuhaus opens daily at 11 AM, and the U6 from Marienplatz gets you to Fröttmaning in 16 minutes.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches. No backpacks, fanny packs, coolers or camera bags.
  • Bag storage: The NFL does not store prohibited items. In 2024 the arena ran two bag storage containers at the foot of the Esplanade; on regular match days it costs €2.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
FC Bayern Museum + Arena Tour: 60-minute guided tour (players' tunnel, locker area, pitch side) plus the club museum, about 2.5 hours total. €25 adults, €11 kids 6-13, €59 family. Tours run on non-matchdays from about 10 AM to 5:30 PM. Book online ahead; many days sell out and areas can close around events. Arena VIP Tour sees the stadium from the team and VIP side, about 3 hours, €45 adults, subject to availability. Book through the Allianz Arena online ticket shop.

After the final whistle

Checked at the source
Walk back down the Esplanade to Fröttmaning and take the U6 south; it is 16 minutes to Marienplatz once you board. Driving is slow: the arena says its car parks take 1.5 to 2.5 hours to empty, and in 2024 they closed at 10 PM.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Don't bring a backpack or a big purse: the NFL runs a clear bag policy and does not hold prohibited items for you. Don't plan to drive or get dropped off; there are no drop-off zones and the car parks take hours to clear.
