What we know about Lambeau Field

Where visiting fans stay

Checked at the source
  • Titletown District / Ashwaubenon. 3 min by walk. The Packers built their own bar district across Ridge Road from the stadium. It has Hinterland brewery, Taverne in the Sky and Lodge Kohler, BelAir Cantina, Homefield Pub + Social, 46 Below, and 1919 Kitchen & Tap inside the Lambeau atrium. This is the only walk-to-the-game option in Green Bay. It solves the transport problem. The catch is rooms. Lodge Kohler is the one hotel here. It sits 0.1 miles from the gate. Its site says rooms open for booking the night the NFL releases the schedule.
  • Downtown Green Bay. 12 min. free 'Lambeau Leap' Green Bay Metro gameday bus from the downtown Metro center. Green Bay does have a downtown worth staying in. It has bars and restaurants. The free 'Lambeau Leap' gameday bus runs from the Green Bay Metro center downtown to Lambeau. The round trip takes 20 to 25 minutes, about 10 minutes each way. It costs nothing. No parking problem, no rideshare surge. For a fan without a car, this is the best value in town.
  • Airport-area hotels. 25 min. free 'Cheesehead' Green Bay Metro gameday bus (40-50 min round trip). Fans often skip the airport strip, thinking it's dead. The free 'Cheesehead' gameday bus serves the airport and nearby hotels. A room out here gets you a free ride to the gate and back. These hotels also tend to open past the two-night minimum later than stadium-area ones.
  • Appleton / Fox Cities. 39 min by car (32. Appleton sits 8 miles out and is the real overflow option once Green Bay sells out, which it does. It's 39 minutes from Lambeau and has its own airport. But no free bus runs from Appleton. Booking here means a rental car or a long taxi ride. Only choose it if Green Bay is fully booked.

Around the stadium

Checked at the source
Titletown District sits on the far side of Ridge Road from the stadium. The Packers built it with seven bars and restaurants: Hinterland, Taverne in the Sky, BelAir Cantina, Homefield Pub + Social, 46 Below, 4th & Strong, and Leaps and Bounds. It also has Lodge Kohler, a skating rink, and a tubing hill. Address is 1025 Lombardi Ave, the stadium sits at 1265 Lombardi Ave. Staying near the stadium is possible here. It's just hard to book.

Getting in from the airport

From a specialist guide
GRB, Green Bay Austin Straubel International, is 25 minutes away. The free 'Cheesehead' gameday bus runs direct from the airport and nearby hotels to Lambeau. Taxi and rideshare also work. The airport is five miles out.

Tailgating

Checked at the source
This is the best walk-up tailgate in the NFL if you have no car and no ticket. The Johnsonville Tailgate Village is a permanent Packers-run venue on the Lambeau campus with live music and food. No game ticket is required. If you drive instead, lot tailgating is limited to a 9x6 foot space behind your vehicle. Charcoal and propane grills are allowed. Wood fires and turkey fryers are not. Tailgating ends at kickoff in all stadium-controlled lots. No ticket, no problem: the Tailgate Village is free and open to the public. Johnsonville Tailgate Village. Free, no game ticket needed. Opening time varies by kickoff; the Packers post it per game. Stays open until one hour after the game ends. Bart Starr Plaza Tailgate Party. Ticketed. You need a separate ticket from your game ticket. Residential driveway and front-yard parking is the Green Bay custom. Costs $15 to $50 cash, sometimes a case of beer. It is not a tailgate venue on its own. It is how an away fan often ends up inside a local tailgate.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: Bags allowed: clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small non-clear bag up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
  • Re-entry: Re-entry works only as a pre-kickoff exit scan in the Atrium. The window runs from six to four hours before kickoff, at one named gate. Leave without that exit scan, or leave after you've been scanned in for the game, and you can't come back.
  • Prohibited items: Banned items: umbrellas, coolers, strollers, wagons, firearms and weapons, video cameras, still cameras with lenses over 12 inches, unauthorized banners and signs, noisemakers, and oversized seats. Seat-back rentals are available inside instead.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
Stadium tours don't run on home gamedays. The Packers Hall of Fame does, staying open until kickoff for anyone with a Hall of Fame ticket. Lambeau Field Stadium Tour (home game weekend). Tours run the day before and the day after home games. Start times vary with kickoff. Booking opens exactly 30 days before the tour date. You cannot book earlier. This is the fact most people miss. Set a reminder for 30 days out. Sell-out risk is high. Game-weekend pricing differs from standard pricing. The Packers post rates in a PDF on the admissions page. Online orders carry a $7 convenience fee. Tickets are nontransferable, nonrefundable, and not for resale. See packershofandtours.com, plan your visit, admission tickets.

After the final whistle

From a specialist guide
The Packers don't publish a post-game clearance time. Here's what's confirmed: free gameday buses run for about an hour after the game, leaving Lambeau every 30 minutes. The wider Green Bay Metro gameday service runs from five hours before kickoff until three hours after the game ends, for Sunday day games. If you're on a bus, you're moving within about 30 minutes. If you're driving out of the lots, you're not.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Two mistakes to avoid. First, don't wait to book. Brown County has only 4,100 hotel rooms for an 81,441-seat stadium. Hotels can set two-night minimums and raise rates on game weekends. Lodge Kohler opens booking the night the NFL schedule drops. Book a month out and you'll end up in Appleton, or paying well over rack rate. Second, don't assume you need a car. Four free gameday bus routes cover downtown, De Pere, the airport-and-hotels corridor, and the I-43/East Mason area. Free parking is also available on many residential streets within walking distance of Lambeau Field, if you do drive.

Bars near the stadium

Checked at the source
  • Stadium View Sports Bar, Grill & Event Halls

1963 Holmgren Way, Green Bay, WI 54304

This is the biggest pre-game operation in Green Bay. It feels more like a festival than a bar, with a roof over only part of it.

Away fans: mixed, welcoming. The scale and volume make it neutral ground.

  • The Bar - Holmgren Way

    Holmgren Way, Green Bay, WI

This bar is the region's tailgate logistics hub. It runs shuttle buses from five sister venues: downtown Appleton, East Green Bay, West Appleton, Oshkosh, and Wausau.

Away fans: mostly home fans, but visitor-friendly by design. It sells tailgate packages for every game, including Bears, Vikings, and Lions.

  • Kroll's West

1990 S Ridge Road, Green Bay, WI 54304

Kroll's is the heritage pick, the place that shows the real Green Bay, not just the tailgate. The family started serving meals at their hotel in 1931 and opened the first Kroll's restaurant in 1936 on Main Street.

Away fans: mixed. It works as much as a restaurant as a bar.

  • Anduzzi's Sports Club - Stadium District

1992 Holmgren Way, Green Bay, WI 54304

Anduzzi's opened in 1999 and has grown into a three-site Green Bay group. The Holmgren Way branch matters most on a Sunday.

Away fans: mixed. It runs Packers gameday events and college watch parties.
