What we know about Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Where visiting fans stay

From a specialist guide
  • Downtown Atlanta / Centennial Olympic Park. 10 min by walk. This is the rare NFL stadium where staying near the stadium means staying in the city. Reverb by Hard Rock is 0.2 mi from the stadium. The Omni at CNN Center is 0.5 mi away. The Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Centennial Olympic Park are all inside that walk. You can leave your hotel 25 minutes before kickoff and still make the anthem.
  • Midtown Atlanta. 20 min. MARTA Red/Gold Line to Five Points, transfer to Blue/Green Line to SEC District Station. Restaurant and bar density beats the convention-hotel core downtown. It is still one MARTA Red or Gold Line ride to Five Points, then one stop to SEC District. Worth it if you stay three nights and don't want to eat in the convention district every night.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
Centennial Olympic Park district, Castleberry Hill edge. Real walkable amenities, not just a plaza. Elliott Street Deli & Pub is 0.2 mi from the stadium, Smoke Ring barbecue is 0.3 mi. The Omni, Reverb by Hard Rock and Clarion Inn & Suites are all within half a mile. A hotel next to this stadium is also next to the city's main visitor attractions.

Getting in from the airport

From a specialist guide
ATL Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. 20 min via MARTA Red or Gold Line from the Airport station, inside the terminal, no transfer needed, to Five Points. That leg is 15-20 min for $2.50. For the stadium, change at Five Points to a Blue/Green Line train, one stop west to SEC District Station.

Getting to the stadium

Checked at the source
MARTA Blue/Green Line, SEC District Station (renamed from GWCC/CNN Center in Dec 2025) to immediately outside the stadium. MARTA Blue/Green Line, Vine City Station. Just west of the stadium, across a pedestrian bridge. Use Vine City on the way out to skip the crowd at SEC District. MARTA Rapid A-Line. Exit at South Downtown. Short walk to the stadium. Fetii Gameday Shuttle (Falcons games only). Drops at GWCC Bus Lane C.

Tailgating

Checked at the source
This is one of the best carless tailgates in the NFL. The Home Depot Backyard runs a free public tailgate every Falcons game day. It starts 4.5 hours before kickoff. You do not need a parking pass, a car, or, for outdoor activities, a game ticket. There is also a paid option, the Terrapin Tailgate, a ticketed hospitality tent in the same space. It starts 3 hours before kickoff. Don't confuse the two. Activities are free and open to the public. You can walk up and hang out in the Backyard even if you parked in a different lot. The Home Depot Backyard game-day tailgate is free. No car and no parking pass needed. It opens 4.5 hours before kickoff. The Terrapin Tailgate is a paid hospitality option. The package includes a game ticket, pre-party access, and four drink tokens. It opens 3 hours before kickoff. Last call is 45 minutes before kickoff.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no bigger than 12" x 6" x 12", or a one-gallon clear freezer bag. One small non-clear bag under 4.5" x 6.5" is also allowed. No buckles, grommets or decor can cover any part of the bag. Logos are limited to one side. Diaper bags must be clear too, no exemption here. Medical exceptions are allowed but go through a security check. Bags that don't comply can be checked at Mobile Locker Company locations for a fee.
  • Re-entry: Not allowed. Guests may not exit and re-enter the stadium on the same ticket.
  • Prohibited items: Outside food, bottles, cans, glass and thermoses. Umbrellas over 33 inches. Cameras with lenses over 6 inches, and tripods. Chairs and inflated balls. Loose batteries. Noisemakers. Hoverboards and drones. Laser pointers. Oversized signs and flags. Masks that hide your identity.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
Mercedes-Benz Stadium runs public tours, locker rooms, the field, the Window to the City, Skybridges and clubs, but only on non-event days. They're sold as dated Eventbrite slots; one listing ran Friday 12:00-13:30. The stadium says tour routes and locations can change. There are no tours on game day. Limited Saturday tour slots run during the season. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $20 for children.

After the final whistle

From a specialist guide
No official clearance time is published. The stadium calls SEC District Station the main stop for arrival and departure. Walk the extra few minutes to Vine City instead. It's the same Blue/Green Line, with a smaller crowd.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Don't book at Atlantic Station or the airport-corridor hotels expecting to walk. Atlantic Station is far enough that the stadium runs a paid shuttle there, Fetii, from the Atlantic Station parking garage, State Street entrance. Also ignore any advice naming 'GWCC/CNN Center MARTA.' That station was renamed SEC District Station in December 2025.
