MCI Kansas City International, 60 minutes via RideKC route 229 bus to downtown, hourly, or rideshare, which is faster.
RideKC 47 Martin Luther King Jr. (bus) from KU Medical Center / Country Club Plaza. RideKC 47 runs daily from KU Medical Center, through the Country Club Plaza, along Martin Luther King to the stadium area. On Sundays it runs hourly, $2 fare. It does not enter the complex. The nearest stop is about a 10-minute walk, roughly 817 yards, from the gates, on Blue Ridge Cutoff. That's the same street the venue names for its Gates 1-2 drop-off. There is no game-day service. A 2008 federal rule bars KCATA from running one, which ended the 80-plus express shuttles it once ran. The last published Sunday departure at the first timepoint is 9:12pm. Drop-off: Blue Ridge Cutoff at 38th Terr, near Gates 1-2. Uber/Lyft to the Missouri Welcome Center from Downtown Kansas City. Expect heavy surge. This is the expensive way in. between Gates 1 and 2 on Blue Ridge Cutoff. Rally bus service from Kansas City pickup points from various KC pickup points.
Rideshare is the default, and it's the pain point. Official pickup and drop-off is the Missouri Welcome Center, between Gates 1 and 2 on Blue Ridge Cutoff. With no rail option, 76,000 fans compete for cars on a highway-interchange site. Surge after a cold-weather game runs severe. A pre-booked charter or Rally bus is worth real money here.
Don't book the sports-complex hotels expecting a stadium district. There isn't one, and you'll have neither the walkable city nor a car. Don't book far out in Overland Park or Lee's Summit to save money either. Without a car, you're then two expensive rideshares from everything.
Parking gates open 4.5 hours before kickoff. The Ford Tailgate District opens 4 hours before. Stadium gates open 2 hours before. Premium areas, CommunityAmerica Club Level, Suites, Founder's Club, Penthouse, open 2.5 hours before, at Founder's Plaza and Tower Gate. For a carless fan, the number that matters is 4 hours: that's when the Ford Tailgate District opens on foot, with drink specials, entertainment, tailgate games, and appearances by the Chiefs Cheerleaders, KC Wolf, and Chiefs Rumble. The official tailgating policy states parking spaces may not be used for tailgate equipment alone; the space must hold a vehicle. Setups are capped at eight feet behind each parking space, and emergency lanes marked by two yellow lines must stay clear. There's a limited 'open park' allowance for the first 30 minutes after gates open, but it doesn't create a walk-up tailgate. For a carless fan, the real answer is the Ford Tailgate District.
Downtown Kansas City: 20 min by rideshare. The Truman Sports Complex has nothing around it. Build your trip around the city instead.
There is no cluster near the stadium. The Truman Sports Complex is two stadiums surrounded by acres of parking at the I-70/I-435 interchange. Nearest restaurant is 0.4 miles away, a Taco Bell. Nearest bar is 0.7 miles away, Casey's Bar. Everything social happens in the parking lots or in the city.
Arrowhead runs a 60-minute Gameday Tour during home games. Book it publicly through Ticketmaster as a VIP add-on. It covers The Penthouse presented by Tickets for Less, the Chiefs Hall of Honor, and 20 minutes on the sidelines before the game. The sideline access during warm-ups is the standout part.
Public Tours run daily on non-gameday dates; Private Tours run Sunday through Thursday only. Book Public Tours through Ticketmaster. Private Tours need full payment 5 days in advance. Price is not published on the tours page; discounts apply for seniors 65+, children 5-12, and military. Private Guided Tours run 90 minutes, Sunday through Thursday only, never on a game day or the day after, up to 20 guests online, larger groups by request, full payment at least 5 days ahead. By phone, quoted rates are $300 for 1-4 guests, $500 for 5-10, and $650 for 11-20, a flat group rate not listed online.
Two nights lets you book a public stadium tour on Saturday, through Ticketmaster, and eat properly in the city, the real point of Kansas City. For winter games, arrive the day before instead of same-day, since weather can delay flights.
Finding rooms for your dates
Stay in the city and ride in for the game.
No rail to the stadium; rideshare or a shuttle from downtown is the practical route.

Sports Complex hotel cluster
12 min on foot. Only for a fan who wants a short walk over having anything to do. Stadium hotels sit 0.5 to 0.6 miles out, close enough to walk.
Gates, bags, payment and access at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Allow an extra 30 minutes at the gate for security screening. Stadium gates open two hours before kickoff. Premium areas open two and a half hours before. Parking lots open about four and a half hours before.
Tickets are mobile-only, accessed through mychiefsaccount.com or the Chiefs mobile app. Screenshots no longer work for entry. No Apple Wallet or Google Wallet option is listed, which can trip up a visitor relying on an offline pass. A Chiefs Account, name and email, is required even for a transfer recipient. If your phone dies, bring photo ID to any box office window to get the ticket printed.
The Chiefs run an interactive 3D stadium map, embedded at map.concept3d.com. It lets you get directions, see amenities, and view your section. There's also a postgame gate-to-lot wayfinder covering lots A through O and ES, for finding your car after the game. Use the interactive map link rather than a fixed chart, since the data updates on their end.
Bags allowed: clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, up to 12" x 6" x 12"; one-gallon clear freezer bags; or clutches 4.5" x 6.5" or smaller.
No re-entry. Once you leave, your ticket will not get you back in, so do not step out to the tailgate.
No dietary or allergen tagging is published per item. The concession pages carry only a cross-contamination warning: the venue takes steps to reduce risk, but cross-contamination may occur, and guests with severe allergies should take care. The full menu is in the Chiefs Mobile App.
The accessibility page recommends the GEHA Gate, T-Mobile Gate, CommunityAmerica Gate, and Hy-Vee Gate. For direct elevator access to an upper level, use the Tower Gate or the box office entrance. The GEHA Gate is the recommended entry point for guests with service animals. Accessible parking is in Lots A, B, C, D, F, G, H, and J, first-come first-served, with registered plates or a hang tag.
Call Chiefs Fan Experience at 816-920-4237, or email [email protected]. The general box office is 816-920-9400, [email protected]. Same-day seat relocations are not available, so plan ahead; you can't fix an accessible-seating problem at the gate. No fixed notice period is published.
Two sensory rooms sit just inside Gate G on the Plaza Level. Sensory kits are free at multiple locations during all major events. Assistive Listening Devices are free at Fans First 131 during all major events; they amplify PA announcements only, not play-by-play broadcast. ASL interpreting needs at least four weeks' notice and runs only at select events.
A Mother's Room, presented by Hy-Vee, sits just inside Gate G, with gliders, a changing table, and lockers. Fans First Booths issue an ID bracelet for kids with reconnection information. The sensory rooms are also just inside Gate G, making it the main family and accommodation entrance.
Guest WiFi runs on SSID KCC-Guest.
The bars fans pick on game day, and how each one treats a visiting fan.
Welcomes away fans. It is a sports museum, national in scope, not just for Chiefs fans.
Jim Chappell opened this bar in 1986 with 65 chairs and a few things on the walls, meant as a political-and-sports bar. Six months in, he dropped the politics. Over the next 32 years he bought memorabilia at sports shows around the country until he ran out of wall space and started covering the ceiling.
The new owners added Sunday hours, the bar used to close Sundays, plus a football-Sunday brunch menu. Confirm Sunday opening for early kickoffs. Book through OpenTable. It's too far for a stadium pre-game stop; treat it as a Saturday-night or away-gameday spot.
Mostly home fans.
The Brooksider sits in Brookside, one of Kansas City's older residential districts. It is a local's bar that is also good for football. It has over 50 HD TVs spread across three spaces: a patio, the main indoor bar and grill, and a private downstairs event room.
You can order online and book private parties, including a downstairs event space. Full menu served. Confirm gameday opening times for early kickoffs. Street parking only, in a residential area.
