What we know about Lincoln Financial Field

Where visiting fans stay

Checked at the source
  • Center City. 20 min. SEPTA Metro Broad Street Line (B) to NRG station, then a ~10 minute walk. This is the whole point of the Linc. It's one of the best carless stadiums in the NFL, so you can stay in the good part of the city and ride down. The Broad Street Line runs from Center City to NRG station, the line's southern end at Broad and Pattison. The express trip from City Hall to the Sports Complex takes about 8 minutes and costs $2.90. Stay anywhere within a few blocks of Broad Street and you get Philadelphia's restaurants, bars and museums, plus a trip to the stadium door of under 15 minutes.
  • South Philadelphia / Sports Complex. 8 min by walk. Live. Casino & Hotel is 0.3 miles from the stadium and the Courtyard at the Navy Yard is 0.4 miles, so you can walk there. It's only worth it if you want to be inside the tailgate scene from early morning and don't care about seeing the city. The area is parking lots, arenas and the casino, and the nightlife is Xfinity Live! and not much else.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
Stay near the South Philadelphia Sports Complex and Xfinity Live! for a real cluster of options, but it's a purpose-built area, not a neighborhood. For beds you've got Live. Casino & Hotel (0.3 miles), the Courtyard at the Navy Yard (0.4 miles) and the Penrose Hotel (1.2 miles). For pre-game drinking there's Xfinity Live! on Pattison Avenue, a bar complex that includes Chickie's and Pete's and Geno's Steaks. Chickie's and Pete's original location runs a free shuttle between the restaurant and the Sports Complex during Eagles games. It's good for game day but thin for a full weekend.

Getting in from the airport

Checked at the source
From PHL Philadelphia International, it's 25 minutes on the SEPTA Regional Rail Airport Line to Center City. It costs $8.75 with a SEPTA Key or contactless, or $11.00 if you buy it on board.

Getting to the stadium

Checked at the source
Take the SEPTA Metro Broad Street Line (B) to NRG station, about 8 min. NRG is the line's southern end at Broad and Pattison. Expect about a 10-minute walk across a few parking lots to the stadium. Take the Broad Street Line 'Sports Express' (B2). Get off at NRG (Pattison) station, about a 10-minute walk from the stadium. Take SEPTA Regional Rail Airport Line, about 25 min. You transfer in Center City. There's no direct rail from the airport to the stadium.

Tailgating

From a specialist guide
You need a vehicle to really tailgate here. A carless away fan can't join the famous Philadelphia tailgate, since it happens in the Sports Complex lots around private cars. Parking costs $50 for a car and $100 for an oversized vehicle across 21,000 spaces, and there's no walk-up tailgate village or public tailgate ticket. In some seasons, Philadelphia has closed streets specifically to stop overflow tailgating near the stadium. Your real substitute is Xfinity Live! on Pattison Avenue, a bar and restaurant complex in the Sports Complex that fills with fans pre-game and needs no ticket, plus Chickie's and Pete's free shuttle from its original location, and the Philadium tavern on Packer Avenue west of Broad. Xfinity Live! is a bar complex, not a tailgate, but it's the carless fan's version of one. It's free to get in and you don't need a match ticket, you just pay for food and drinks. It opens hours before kickoff on Eagles game days, though the exact opening time isn't published. Chickie's and Pete's original location runs a free game-day shuttle. The shuttle is free, but you pay for food and drinks. It runs during events at Lincoln Financial Field.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: You can bring a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no bigger than 12" x 6" x 12" (30.5 x 15.2 x 30.5 cm), or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch no larger than 4.5" x 6.5". You can carry a clutch in addition to one clear bag. Bags with concealing hardware, buckles or grommets aren't allowed. Banned items include purses larger than a clutch, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, book bags, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage, seat cushions, computer bags, camera bags and binocular cases.
  • Re-entry: Re-entry isn't allowed. Fans may not exit and re-enter the stadium using the same ticket. Emergency re-entry requires permission from the Gate Chief and a full re-screening.
  • Prohibited items: You can bring food only if it is wrapped in clear plastic, and it is checked at the gate. You can't bring beverages or liquids including alcohol, umbrellas, strollers, infant car seats or carriers, seat cushions, cameras with a lens over 5 inches (still cameras only, video recorders are banned), aerosol cans, balloons, noisemakers or drones.

Touring the stadium

From a specialist guide
Stadium tours aren't offered on game days. The Eagles' published tour schedule runs guided tours on Fridays, self-guided tours on weekends and private group tours Tuesday through Thursday, all as the event schedule allows. More info is at philadelphiaeagles.com/tickets/tickpick-tours. You can book a TickPick Tour, a self-guided weekend tour that runs on weekends as the event schedule allows, so the Saturday before a Sunday home game is possible but not guaranteed. A guided, staff-led tour runs about 90 minutes, holds up to 40 people, and is limited to 10 tickets per booking, on Fridays. Private group tours need a minimum of 20 people and run Tuesday through Thursday. Price isn't listed on the Eagles' tour page; tickets are sold through TickPick. Tour guests get 15% off at the Pro Shop. More info is at philadelphiaeagles.com/tickets/tickpick-tours.

After the final whistle

From a specialist guide
Getting out takes 30 to 60 minutes. Getting out by rail is the stadium's strongest point. SEPTA stations trains at NRG ready to load right after the final whistle, and fans find trains standing by for local and express service back to Fern Rock. The Broad Street Line has moved between 14,000 and 17,000 fans out of the Sports Complex in about an hour. Budget the 10-minute walk plus a wait in line at NRG. Driving out of the Sports Complex lots is the slow way.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Don't book by the stadium just to save the commute. The commute is 8 minutes on an express train, and Center City is a far better place to spend the other 20 hours of your trip. Also don't assume you can walk up to a lot and join a tailgate. Philadelphia's tailgate culture is famous, but it's private and car-based, and in some seasons the city has closed streets to stop overflow tailgating.

Bars near the stadium

Checked at the source
  • Stateside Live! (formerly Xfinity Live!)

1100 Pattison Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148

The name changed. This place used to be called Xfinity Live!

Away fans: it's a mixed crowd at a ticketed, commercially run complex.

  • Chickie's & Pete's

1526 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145

Peter and Henrietta Ciarrocchi bought a taproom on Robbins Avenue in Mayfair in 1977, and what started as a corner bar is now a Philadelphia institution and the official sports bar of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Packer Avenue flagship is the one that matters on gameday, with three separate bars, a 14-foot television, and the fryers running nonstop for Crabfries, which are crinkle-cut fries dusted with the house seasoning and served with a pot of white cheese sauce.

Away fans: it draws mostly home fans, as the club's official sports bar.

  • South Philadelphia Tap Room

1509 Mifflin St, Philadelphia, PA 19145 (Newbold)

The Tap Room is where you send people who want the neighborhood feel instead of the sports complex scene. It's a South Philly corner gastropub with 14 rotating draft lines and around 70 bottles.

Away fans: it's a mixed crowd, a neighborhood gastropub with a local South Philly feel.

  • Sports & Social Philly

900 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148 (inside Live! Casino & Hotel)

Sports & Social sits inside Live. Casino & Hotel Philadelphia on the north edge of the complex, built around a 52-foot 4K media wall ringed by twenty-six 65-inch screens.

Away fans: it's a mixed, neutral crowd at a casino sports bar.
