  • Harlem. 10 min by transit. Hotels and rentals near 125th Street cost less than Midtown. The 4 and D trains and the Metro-North shuttle all stop at 125th Street on the way to the ballpark.
  • South Bronx. 10 min by transit. The Opera House Hotel at 436 East 149th Street is one of the few hotels near the ballpark, set in a former opera house. It is about a mile south, a short subway or cab ride.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
River Avenue runs under the elevated 4 train across from Gates 6 and 8, with Stan's Sports Bar and Billy's Sports Bar facing the ballpark and Yankee Tavern a block east on East 161st Street. Hotels are scarce in this part of the Bronx. The closest is the Opera House Hotel at 436 East 149th Street, about a mile south.

Getting in from the airport

From a specialist guide
LGA (LaGuardia), about 7 miles from the ballpark and 20 to 40 minutes by car. By transit, take the M60-SBS bus from Terminal B or C to 125 St and Lexington Ave, then an uptown 4 train three stops to 161 St-Yankee Stadium, about an hour door to door.

After the final whistle

The 161 St-Yankee Stadium subway station jams right after the last out. On game days Metro-North runs shuttle trains from Yankees-E 153 St, about 10 minutes on foot, back to Harlem-125 St and Grand Central. To skip the worst of the crush, wait 30 minutes at a River Avenue bar before you head to the train.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Driving in. Team-area garages cost $49 prepaid in 2026, the Major Deegan backs up after games, and the 4 and D trains drop you at the gates in about 25 minutes from Midtown.

Bars near the stadium

Checked at the source
  • Stan's Sports Bar

836 River Ave, Bronx, NY 10451

Stan's has served fans across from the ballpark since 1979, and the crowd spills onto River Avenue under the elevated tracks. It is the place for cheap beer and pregame noise.

Away fans: the loudest home crowd outside the ballpark. Visitors in away colors get heckled, especially Red Sox and Mets fans, but it rarely goes past noise.

  • Billy's Sports Bar

856 River Ave, Bronx, NY 10451

Billy's opened in 1998 and is more multilevel club than corner bar, with several bars, lots of TVs and a rooftop with misting fans. It holds a big crowd before and after games.

Away fans: a big, mixed crowd with room to spread out, so visitors blend in more easily than at Stan's.

  • Yankee Tavern

    72 E 161st St, Bronx, NY 10451

Open since 1927, the tavern sits a block from the ballpark with its walls covered in team memorabilia. It serves a full food menu along with drinks.

Away fans: an older, steadier home crowd that is friendly to visitors who come for the history.

  • Bronx Drafthouse

884 Gerard Ave, Bronx, NY 10452

A pub with dozens of craft beers on a chalkboard, many from New York breweries, plus wings and fries. It is the quieter choice near the ballpark.

Away fans: a craft beer crowd that is busy on game days but calm, so visitors are fine here.
