What we know about T-Mobile Park

Where visiting fans stay

From a specialist guide
  • Pioneer Square and the stadium district. 5 min by walk. The Silver Cloud Hotel Seattle Stadium faces the ballpark, and the Embassy Suites at 255 S King St is less than half a mile away. You walk to the gates and to the bars on 1st Avenue South.
  • Downtown core. 10 min by transit. Most of the city's hotels are here, close to Pike Place Market and the waterfront. Link light rail runs from Westlake Station to Stadium Station in a few stops, or you can walk to the ballpark in 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Belltown and Seattle Center. 20 min by transit. Close to the Space Needle and Kerry Park. Ride the Seattle Center Monorail to Westlake, then Link light rail south to Stadium Station.
  • Bellevue. 25 min by transit. A big hotel cluster across Lake Washington. The Link 2 Line runs from Bellevue Downtown through Mercer Island to International District/Chinatown Station in about 22 minutes, then it is a short walk to the ballpark.
  • SeaTac airport hotels. 35 min by transit. A fallback when downtown sells out. Link light rail runs from the airport station straight to Stadium Station for $3.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
The ballpark sits at the south edge of Pioneer Square. The Silver Cloud Hotel Seattle Stadium is across 1st Avenue South, the Embassy Suites is at 255 S King St, and the bars of 1st Avenue South and Occidental Avenue run north toward Pioneer Square.

Getting in from the airport

Checked at the source
SEA (Seattle-Tacoma International). Link light rail runs from the airport station to Stadium Station, two blocks from the ballpark, for a flat $3 fare. The ride to downtown takes about 38 minutes, and Stadium Station comes a few minutes before downtown.

Getting to the stadium

Checked at the source
Link 1 Line light rail from the airport, about 35 min. Stadium Station, two blocks from the ballpark. Link 1 Line light rail from downtown, about 10 min. Stadium Station or International District/Chinatown Station, both a short walk to the gates. Riders 18 and under ride free. Link 2 Line light rail from the Eastside, about 25 min. International District/Chinatown Station, a short walk from the ballpark. Trains from Bellevue Downtown take about 22 minutes and continue to Pioneer Square and Westlake. Sounder commuter train, about 75 min. King Street Station, about half a mile from the nearest gate. Special trains run only for select weekend day games, and return trains leave 45 minutes after the final out.

Tailgating

Checked at the source
Lumen Field, next door, does not allow tailgating in its garage at 330 S Royal Brougham Way or its North Lot at 521 Stadium Pl S. Plan to eat and drink at the bars on 1st Avenue South instead. Drinking or carrying an open container of beer, wine or liquor in public breaks Seattle and Washington law, with a $103 fine.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: Clear plastic bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches and one-gallon clear zip-top bags are allowed. Small clutches and fanny packs up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches do not need to be clear. Backpacks, multi-compartment bags, duffle bags and larger purses are not allowed, except for medical needs or a single-compartment diaper bag with a child present. The Mariners do not store bags.
  • Cashless: The ballpark and the Mariners Garage are cashless. Pay with a card or mobile wallet. Five kiosks turn cash into prepaid debit cards, near Sections 128, 226 and 329, The 'Pen and the Team Store.
  • Re-entry: Once you leave, you cannot come back in, except in an emergency with approval from security staff.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
A 75-minute walking tour that can include the Owners' Suite, the interview room, the warning track, the Rooftop Boardwalk and the Mariners Hall of Fame. Buy tickets online at Ticketmaster only, not at the box office. Children under 3 are free, and there are no refunds. Non-game-day tours start at the Team Store, and game-day tours start at the Club Skybridge on the fifth floor of the Mariners Garage. A 60-minute tour of the ballpark, then a special area to watch batting practice before the public gates open. You need a game ticket for the same date, sold separately. Batting practice is not guaranteed. Call (206) 346-4241 or see Mariners.com/Tours.

After the final whistle

Checked at the source
Link light rail runs after the game until 1 a.m. every day, with trains every 8 to 15 minutes. Stadium Station gets the biggest crowd, so walk 10 minutes north to International District/Chinatown or Pioneer Square station, or wait out the rush at a 1st Avenue South bar. Drivers face police traffic control and should use I-5 or I-90 on-ramps away from the ballpark.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Bringing a backpack. Only clear bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or small clutches up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches get in, and the Mariners do not check bags. Also, do not plan on booking the Mariners Garage ahead of time, since only season members can.

Bars near the stadium

Checked at the source
  • The T-Mobile 'Pen

    1250 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134 (center field, inside T-Mobile Park)

The open plaza behind the center field bullpens is the first part of the ballpark to open, two hours before first pitch. It has food stands like El Rinconsito, Great State Burger and Ballard Pizza, plus spirits you can carry anywhere in the ballpark.

Away fans: a busy home crowd, but Seattle fans are easygoing, so expect a little teasing and nothing more.

  • Hit It Here Cafe and Bar

    1250 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134 (right field, inside T-Mobile Park)

A restaurant and bar in right field with sit-down meals and a view of the field. It is one of the few spots in the ballpark that pours hard liquor.

Away fans: a sit-down room full of home fans, but the crowd is relaxed.

  • Hatback Bar and Grille and Steelheads Alley

    1201 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134

The Mariners run this complex, called the Boxyard, in the former Pyramid Brewing building facing the ballpark. Hatback serves pub food and local beer, and the Steelheads Alley taproom next door honors the Seattle Steelheads, a Negro Leagues team from the 1940s.

Away fans: a Mariners-backed bar across the street, so it is packed with home fans. Away colors draw jokes, not trouble.

  • Elysian Fields

    542 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104

Elysian Brewing's pub opened in 2006 across from Lumen Field, a short walk north of the ballpark. It has a long zinc bar, about 20 taps of Elysian beer and room for groups.

Away fans: a big brewpub that draws fans of every team in town, so away colors fit in.
