What we know about Target Field

Where visiting fans stay

From a specialist guide
  • Downtown Minneapolis. 15 min by walk. Most hotels are here, a 15 to 20 minute walk from the ballpark. In bad weather you can use the skyways for part of the way, and the light rail costs 50 cents within downtown.
  • North Loop. 10 min by walk. The neighborhood right next to the ballpark, with converted warehouses, a few boutique hotels and the best pregame bars and restaurants.
  • Bloomington near the Mall of America and MSP. 35 min by transit. Cheaper airport hotels on the Blue Line. Ride the train straight to Target Field Station.
  • Downtown St. Paul. 45 min by transit. The Green Line runs from St. Paul to Target Field Station. Good if you want a quieter base with its own bars and restaurants.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
The ballpark sits in the North Loop and Warehouse District at the west edge of downtown. Fulton Brewing, Modist Brewing and Kieran's Irish Pub are all within a few blocks, and downtown hotels are a 10 to 20 minute walk across Target Plaza or through the skyways.

Getting in from the airport

From a specialist guide
MSP (Minneapolis-St. Paul International). It is about 7 miles southeast of the ballpark in a straight line. The METRO Blue Line light rail runs from the airport to Target Field Station, the last stop, in roughly 30 to 40 minutes for a $2 fare.

After the final whistle

Light rail trains load at Target Field Station next to Gate 6, so most transit riders are on a train within minutes, and rides from downtown cost 50 cents (a $1 Downtown Zone all-day pass covers the round trip). The ABC and Hawthorne ramps are pay-at-entry, so drivers leave without stopping to pay. The North and South ramps inside the ballpark lead straight out to the street.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Dressing for summer in April, May or September. Night games get cold fast, so bring layers and use the heated spots: Carbliss Clubhouse at Gate 6 has overhead heaters, and the Budweiser Roof Deck has a fire pit.
