Where visiting fans stay

From a specialist guide
  • Roma Norte
    Salvador Serrano Pineda, Google Maps

    Roma NorteVisiting fans pick this

45-60 min. Rideshare. The best mix of food, bars and walkable streets, close to Condesa and Juárez. Tlecān and most NFL bars on this list sit nearby.

  • Condesa
Tu guía en México, Google Maps

    CondesaVisiting fans pick this

45-60 min. Rideshare. Leafy and calmer than Roma, built around Parque México and Parque España, with the same drive south to the stadium.

  • Coyoacán
    Manuel Sancha Rivero, Google Maps

    Coyoacán

15 min. Rideshare. The closest pleasant base to the stadium: cobblestone streets, the Frida Kahlo Museum and the Coyoacán market, but quieter at night and farther from central Mexico City.

  • Polanco
    yves beauvais, Google Maps

    Polanco

45-55 min. Rideshare. Upscale hotels, top restaurants and the Anthropology Museum. It is also next to Pinche Gringo BBQ, the 49ers fan base in 2022, but it is the longest ride to the stadium.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
The blocks around the stadium in Santa Úrsula are mostly residential, with few hotels and little nightlife. On game day you eat and drink from stands in the stadium plazas and inside, where both cash and cards work. Coyoacán, about 15 minutes away by taxi, is the closest neighborhood worth staying in; most fans base in Roma, Condesa or Polanco.

Getting to Estadio Banorte

From Benito Juarez

From a specialist guide
MEX (Benito Juárez, Terminals 1 and 2) sits about 5 to 6 miles from Roma Norte: 20 to 30 minutes by car without traffic, 45 to 60 minutes at rush hour. Prepaid authorized taxis leave from booths in both arrival halls. Buy an authorized taxi ticket at the official booths inside arrivals (Terminal 1 international: Salas E2, E3 and Gate 10; Terminal 2 international: Sala E and Gate 4), then hand it to the driver. Uber and Didi pick up only at outside zones: Circuito Interior near Metro Terminal Aérea for T1, Avenida Fuerza Aérea Mexicana for T2. Metrobús Line 4 runs from both terminals to Centro and Reforma for 30 pesos, 5 AM to midnight on Sundays, paid with the Mobility Integrated (MI) card or a contactless bank card.

On game day

From a specialist guide
Metro Line 2 + Tren Ligero, about 20 min. Estadio Azteca station, then a 5-10 minute walk. Rideshare from Roma or Condesa, about 60 min. Pickup and drop-off zones near Calzada de Tlalpan. Rideshare from Coyoacán, about 20 min. Pickup and drop-off zones near Calzada de Tlalpan. Walk from the light rail, about 10 min to Stadium plazas and gates.

Before kickoff at Estadio Banorte

Before kickoff

Checked at the source
The NFL is running league events in Mexico City during game week, with NFL Shops on game day selling limited-edition halftime merchandise. The Warning headlines halftime; Majo Aguilar and MXKA sing the anthems. At the 2022 game, the NFL ran a pregame fan plaza outside the stadium from 2:30 PM with a concert stage, the ESPN set, a Lombardi Trophy photo spot, merchandise and food trucks. Stadium parking was closed to fans at the last NFL game here, and the venue bans outside food and drink, so there is no lot tailgate. Eat at the plaza stands or in Coyoacán before you go.

Game day at Estadio Banorte

Getting in

From a specialist guide
  • Bag policy: NFL rule from the last Mexico City game: a clear plastic bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches. No backpacks, fanny packs, camera bags or luggage, and nobody will hold banned items for you.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
The stadium has suspended its guided tours until further notice. Check estadiobanorte.com.mx/en/tour before your trip.

After the final whistle

From a specialist guide
Expect a slow exit. The game ends late Sunday night, the Tren Ligero platform at Estadio Azteca station jams, and Calzada de Tlalpan backs up with surge pricing on rideshare. Normal Sunday Tren Ligero service runs until about 11:30 PM, so move straight to the train or plan on a long wait for a car. At past NFL games here, return shuttle lines ran more than two hours.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Leave the power bank, umbrella and lucha libre mask at the hotel: the stadium bans all three, and it stores nothing. Load a Mobility Integrated (MI) card before game day, because the Tren Ligero takes only the card, and go easy on Saturday drinks at 7,350 feet.
