Where to stay near Hard Rock Stadium

Where visiting fans stay

Checked at the source
  • Aventura
    Stenio Barbosa, Google Maps

    AventuraVisiting fans pick this

free stadium shuttle from Brightline Aventura station. The single best carless base, and almost nobody books it. Aventura is the Brightline station the stadium's own shuttle serves. A free shuttle leaves Aventura station 10 minutes after each Hard Rock Stadium Connect train arrives, and it runs back afterward from the south side of the stadium at NW 199th near the Gate 3 pedestrian bridge. Staying here means no rideshare surge, no 25-minute walk to a pickup lot, and a hotel and mall area with real restaurants.

  • Downtown Miami / Brickett-Brickell
    César Cardona Martinez, Google Maps

Downtown Miami / Brickett-BrickellVisiting fans pick this

Brightline MiamiCentral to Aventura, then free stadium shuttle. The right choice if the trip is about Miami and not only the football. MiamiCentral, where Brightline ends, is in downtown Miami, so you board the Hard Rock Stadium Connect train at your doorstep and take the free shuttle at the other end. You also get Metrorail and the free Metromover for the rest of the weekend.

  • Fort Lauderdale

Brightline Fort Lauderdale to Aventura, then free stadium shuttle. It's genuinely closer to Miami Gardens than South Beach is, cheaper than Miami in season, has its own beach, and sits on the same Brightline line with the same free stadium shuttle at Aventura. It's a strong value pick for a fan who wants the beach and football without Miami nightlife.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
There's no walkable cluster near the stadium. Hard Rock Stadium sits in Miami Gardens, about 15 miles from downtown Miami, in an area that's mostly residential with a few strip malls along NW 27th Avenue offering fast food. The nearest hotel of any kind is the Stadium Hotel at 1.1 miles away, and the next closest is 2.3 miles away. There's no bar street, no pub, and nothing to do before or after the game on foot. That rules out staying right by the stadium.

Getting to Hard Rock Stadium

From Miami International

From a specialist guide
Miami International (MIA) is 25 minutes from Miami Gardens by car; Fort Lauderdale (FLL) about 30.

On game day

Checked at the source
Take Brightline's Hard Rock Stadium Connect train and ride the free shuttle from Aventura. The shuttle drops you at the stadium, and you catch it back from the south side at NW 199th near the Gate 3 pedestrian bridge.

Parking and tailgating at Hard Rock Stadium

Parking

From a specialist guide
Lots are pre-sold and open four hours before kickoff. Rideshare has its own lot on the north side.

Tailgating

Checked at the source
You need a car to tailgate here. It's strictly a parking-lot activity tied to your own spot: you can occupy only one parking space per vehicle, and you tailgate directly behind your car in the designated 8 by 10 foot space marked out by the stadium. Gas and charcoal grills are fine, but open fires, kegs and box trucks are not. There's no free public tailgate green here like Atlanta's Home Depot Backyard.

Tailgating without a car

Vehicle-based official lots.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Bag policy: You can bring a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small non-clear bag or fanny pack up to 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Diaper bags are allowed subject to search, and food for medical or dietary needs can go in a clear plastic bag. You can check an oversized bag near gates 3, 5, 8 and 14 by credit card only. The fee runs $12 to $20 depending on which venue page you check.
  • Re-entry: Re-entry isn't allowed. The stadium has a blanket no re-entry policy that it specifically applies to NFL games, so there's no gray area for a Dolphins Sunday.
  • Prohibited items: Umbrellas are banned outright for line-of-sight reasons. Strollers are banned except on the Suite Level. You can't bring professional cameras with telephoto or zoom lenses, video cameras, tripods, monopods or selfie sticks, seat cushions, glass bottles, cans, coolers, or outside food, except medical or dietary items in a clear bag. Sealed water bottles 20 ounces or less are allowed.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
Hard Rock Stadium doesn't run public tours. The tours page and the A-Z guide both say so, and all you can do is fill out a notify-me form.

After the final whistle

Checked at the source
Plan your exit before the game. If you're taking Brightline, leave the stadium at least an hour before your booked train, that's the stadium's own recommendation, and board on the south side at NW 199th near the Gate 3 pedestrian bridge. If you're taking rideshare, budget the 25-minute walk to Lot 44 on top of the wait. Route 297's post-game southbound service isn't confirmed for a 2026 Sunday game, so don't rely on it for the ride back.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
The biggest and most common mistake is booking Miami Beach or South Beach because it's the Miami Dolphins. Hard Rock Stadium is nowhere near the beach. It sits roughly 15 miles from downtown Miami, and further still from the sand, in suburban Miami Gardens, with no rail link from the beach at all. A South Beach base means an expensive rideshare each way through causeway traffic on a Sunday. The neighborhood around the stadium is residential with almost no visitor amenities.

Food and drink at Hard Rock Stadium

What to eat

The local food this city is known for: the Cuban sandwich.

Bars near the stadium

Checked at the source
  • Fountain Plaza Tailgate

Hard Rock Stadium south plaza, 347 Don Shula Dr, Miami Gardens, FL 33056

Since there's no bar district around Hard Rock Stadium, the Dolphins built one. The south plaza is a 270,000 square foot pre-game village that opened for the 2022 home opener.

Away fans: the crowd is mixed. It's a ticketed space, so wearing the away team's colors is fine.

  • Grails
Grails Miami - Restaurant & Sports Bar, Google Maps

    Grails

2800 N Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33127 (Wynwood)

This is the strongest Dolphins bar in South Florida by any measure: it won Dolphins Bar of the Year in 2024 in the club's own network, and Miami New Times named it Best Sports Bar in 2020, 2022 and 2025. It opened in 2019 in Wynwood with a sneaker-collector theme, rare pairs displayed on the walls, and its signature drink comes served in a sneaker-shaped cup.

Away fans: it welcomes away fans, shows every NFL game on 75+ screens, and there's no cover.

  • Bokamper's Sports Bar & Grill
Bokamper's Sports Bar & Grill, Google Maps

    Bokamper's Sports Bar & Grill

3115 NE 32nd Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308

The reason to send a Dolphins fan here instead of another sports bar is the name over the door. Kim Bokamper, the Dolphins linebacker and defensive end, opened it in 2008.

Away fans: it welcomes away fans and shows every sport.
