What we know about Chase Field

Where visiting fans stay

From a specialist guide
  • Downtown Phoenix and CityScape. 10 min by walk. The Kimpton Palomar, Hyatt Regency, Renaissance, Sheraton, Westin and several Marriott and Hilton hotels are a short walk from the gates. CityScape restaurants are on the way.
  • Roosevelt Row. 20 min by walk. The downtown arts district has murals, breweries and bars, plus Matt's Big Breakfast. It is about a mile north of the ballpark, so walk or take a rideshare.
  • Tempe and Mill Avenue. 25 min by transit. Mill Avenue is Tempe's nightlife street near Tempe Town Lake, and it is a stop on the same light rail line as the ballpark. Rooms often cost less than downtown on big weekends.
  • Sky Harbor Airport area. 20 min by transit. A fallback when downtown sells out. The free PHX Sky Train links the terminals to the 44th Street/Washington light rail station, a short ride from the ballpark.

Around the stadium

From a specialist guide
Downtown Phoenix hotels sit a few blocks north and west of the ballpark, including the Kimpton Palomar at 2 E Jefferson St in CityScape, the Hyatt Regency, Renaissance, Sheraton and Westin. CityScape restaurants and Heritage Square, with Pizzeria Bianco and Bar Bianco, are each less than half a mile away.

Getting in from the airport

Checked at the source
PHX (Phoenix Sky Harbor) is less than 10 minutes from downtown by car. Without a car, ride the free PHX Sky Train to the 44th Street/Washington station and take a westbound Valley Metro light rail train downtown. The ride from the airport to downtown costs $2.

Getting to the stadium

Checked at the source
PHX Sky Train and Valley Metro light rail, about 35 min. 3rd Street/Washington station (westbound trains), 14 minutes from 44th Street/Washington. Walk two blocks south to the ballpark. Allow about 35 minutes in all with the Sky Train ride and the wait for a train. Valley Metro light rail from Tempe, about 26 min. 3rd Street/Washington station, 26 minutes from Mill Ave/3rd St. Going back east, board at 3rd Street/Jefferson, across Jefferson Street from the ballpark. The last eastbound train leaves at about 12:15am. A Line from a Park-and-Ride lot, about 45 min. 3rd Street light rail stations, two blocks from the gates. The ride from Sycamore/Main St takes about 45 minutes. B Line from a north Phoenix Park-and-Ride lot, about 30 min. Downtown Phoenix Hub at Central Avenue and Jefferson Street, about 19 minutes from Central Ave/Camelback. Walk about half a mile east on Jefferson Street to the ballpark.

Tailgating

Checked at the source
Tailgating is not allowed in the Chase Field event garages and lots. The parking around the ballpark is city garages, not tailgate lots, so meet at CityScape, Heritage Square or Roosevelt Row bars before the game instead. You can bring outside food into the ballpark if it is in a clear plastic bag. Sealed plastic bottles of plain water and sealed single-serve juice boxes are also allowed.

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Clear bag policy: Each fan may carry one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches. Backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, camera bags and luggage are not allowed. Umbrellas are not allowed either.
  • Cashless: Concession stands and the Team Shop do not take cash. Use a card, your phone or the D-backs Wallet in the MLB Ballpark app. Free Cash-2-Card machines at Sections 106, 128 and 322 turn cash into a card.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
Adults $25, seniors $20, kids 12 and under $18. Tours last about 75 minutes and do not go onto the field. Most of the route is not air-conditioned, so dress for heat. No tours on Sundays, on day-game days, major holidays or special event days. Buy ahead online or call the Tour Hotline at 602-462-6799. $35 per person and you also need a game ticket. In 2026 it ran at 3:30pm before 6:40pm Friday games, and at 2pm or 4pm before 5:10pm or 7:10pm Saturday games. $15 per person for groups of 25 or more. Reserve with a deposit at least two weeks ahead by calling 602-462-6564.

After the final whistle

Checked at the source
Most carless fans walk to the 3rd Street light rail stations, two blocks from the ballpark. Eastbound trains toward Tempe and Mesa leave 3rd Street/Jefferson every 20 minutes in the evening, and the last one leaves at about 12:15am. Trains as far as 44th Street/Washington, the Sky Train stop for the airport, keep running until about 2am. Load fare on the Valley Metro app or a Copper card before the game so you skip the ticket machine lines after the last out. Escalators run down only from the middle of the seventh inning. To beat the crowd, wait 30 minutes at a CityScape or Heritage Square bar before you head out.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Driving downtown without a parking plan. Some garages near the ballpark take only cards and others take only cash, and rates climb on game day. Prebook a spot through ParkWhiz, the team's parking partner, or ride the light rail.

Bars near the stadium

Checked at the source
  • Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers

401 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 (left field terrace, second level of Chase Field)

A burger bar built into the left field terrace on the second level of Chase Field, with TVs inside and a view of the field. It is open every day, game or not, so it works as a pregame meeting spot.

Away fans: a home crowd on game nights, but a burger bar in the ballpark is a relaxed place to wear away colors.

  • Estrella Jalisco Cantina

Right field Diamond Level, Chase Field, 401 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

A cantina above right field with a large outdoor patio, inside seats and a bar, plus craft beer and food with a view of the field. The team calls it the ballpark's top dining spot.

Away fans: open to every fan with a game ticket, so visitors mix in with the home crowd.

  • The Arrogant Butcher

    2 E Jefferson St #150, Phoenix, AZ 85004

A busy CityScape restaurant and bar with steaks, burgers, a raw bar, craft beer and cocktails. It markets itself as a pregame stop before big games.

Away fans: a mixed crowd of office workers, theater fans and baseball fans, so away colors draw little notice.

  • Bar Bianco

    609 E Adams St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

A cozy bar in a historic house at Heritage Square, next door to Pizzeria Bianco. It pours seasonal cocktails, wine and craft beer, and the owners pitch it as a meeting spot before a game.

Away fans: a small cocktail bar crowd, not a sports bar, so visitors fit in.
