Getting to Chase Field

From Sky Harbor

Checked at the source
PHX (Phoenix Sky Harbor) is less than 10 minutes from downtown by car. Without a car, ride the free PHX Sky Train to the 44th Street/Washington station and take a westbound Valley Metro light rail train downtown. The ride from the airport to downtown costs $2.

On game day

Checked at the source
PHX Sky Train and Valley Metro light rail, about 25 min. 3rd Street/Washington station (westbound trains). Walk two blocks south to the ballpark. Valley Metro light rail from Tempe, about 25 min. 3rd Street/Washington station on the way in. Going back east, board at 3rd Street/Jefferson, across Jefferson Street from the ballpark. Light rail from a Park-and-Ride lot, about 30 min. 3rd Street light rail stations, two blocks from the gates. Drive and park in a prebooked garage, about 20 min. Garages around the ballpark, including the Chase Field Garage just south of the ballpark and the Diamondback Right Field Garage at 801 E Jefferson St. Park in the same part of downtown you drive in from.

Parking and tailgating at Chase Field

Tailgating

Checked at the source
You can bring outside food into the ballpark if it is in a clear plastic bag. Sealed plastic bottles of plain water and sealed single-serve juice boxes are also allowed.

Game day at Chase Field

Getting in

Checked at the source
  • Clear bag policy: Each fan may carry one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches. Backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, camera bags and luggage are not allowed. Umbrellas are not allowed either.
  • Cashless: Concession stands and the Team Shop do not take cash. Use a card, your phone or the D-backs Wallet in the MLB Ballpark app. Free Cash-2-Card machines at Sections 106, 128 and 322 turn cash into a card.

Touring the stadium

Checked at the source
Adults $25, seniors $20, kids 12 and under $18. Tours last about 75 minutes and do not go onto the field. Most of the route is not air-conditioned, so dress for heat. No tours on Sundays, on day-game days, major holidays or special event days. Buy ahead online or call the Tour Hotline at 602-462-6799. $35 per person and you also need a game ticket. In 2026 it ran at 3:30pm before 6:40pm Friday games, and at 2pm or 4pm before 5:10pm or 7:10pm Saturday games. $15 per person for groups of 25 or more. Reserve with a deposit at least two weeks ahead by calling 602-462-6564.

After the final whistle

Checked at the source
Most carless fans walk to the 3rd Street light rail stations, two blocks from the ballpark. Load fare on the Valley Metro app or a Copper card before the game so you skip the ticket machine lines after the last out. Escalators run down only from the middle of the seventh inning. To beat the crowd, wait 30 minutes at a CityScape or Heritage Square bar before you head out.

One thing to avoid

From a specialist guide
Driving downtown without a parking plan. Some garages near the ballpark take only cards and others take only cash, and rates climb on game day. Prebook a spot through ParkWhiz, the team's parking partner, or ride the light rail.

  • Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers
    Nader S., Google Maps

    Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers

401 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 (inside Chase Field)

A burger bar built into Chase Field that the team calls your neighborhood burger joint. It is an easy place to meet before first pitch.

Away fans: a home crowd on game nights, but a burger bar in the ballpark is a relaxed place to wear away colors.

  • Estrella Jalisco Cantina

Right field Diamond Level, Chase Field, 401 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

A cantina above right field with a large outdoor patio, inside seats and a bar, plus craft beer and food with a view of the field. The team calls it the ballpark's top dining spot.

Away fans: open to every fan with a game ticket, so visitors mix in with the home crowd.

  • The Arrogant Butcher
    The Arrogant Butcher, Google Maps

    The Arrogant Butcher

    2 E Jefferson St #150, Phoenix, AZ 85004

A busy CityScape restaurant and bar with steaks, burgers, a raw bar, craft beer and cocktails. It markets itself as a pregame stop before big games.

Away fans: a mixed crowd of office workers, theater fans and baseball fans, so away colors draw little notice.

  • Bar Bianco
    Desmond Suarez II, Google Maps

    Bar Bianco

    609 E Adams St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

A cozy bar in a historic house at Heritage Square, next door to Pizzeria Bianco. It pours seasonal cocktails, wine and craft beer, and the owners pitch it as a meeting spot before a game.

Away fans: a small cocktail bar crowd, not a sports bar, so visitors fit in.

Seats and shade at Chase Field

Where the sun lands on a day game, and which seats stay dry when it rains.

Shade and cover

Checked at the source
  • Every section, roof closed. The retractable roof and air conditioning keep fans cool through the hot summer months. With the roof closed, every seat is indoors and shade does not matter.
  • Every section, roof open or closed. The team posts the roof plan before every home series. Open-roof games are most likely on mild spring and fall nights. Call the roof hotline at 602-462-6262 for your game.
  • Upper level Sections 314 to 318 and 328 to 332, plus the back rows of Sections 319 to 327. When the roof is open, these are the safest picks for shade. The third base side gets shade first, starting in the upper level.
  • Third base side, home plate to the left field foul pole. With the roof open, the third base side is in shade for evening games. The first base side and the right field corner stay in the sun longest.
  • Right field Sections 101 to 110. These are the most exposed seats when the roof is open. The bleachers in Sections 101 to 105 and 139 to 144 are benches, not chairs.
  • West plaza entrances. The APS Solar Pavilion is a solar shade roof over the plaza by the west gates and ticket booths, so you can wait for gates out of the sun.
